Picking the Perfect Tree

After starting the day with our Christmas breakfast, we thought today would be a
perfect day to get our tree too. Well, not so sure Wes was as excited as me and the boys.
But he got in the spirit. It did take a while to find a tree this year.
With the drought, the trees were more expensive. Bummer!

It was actually chilly outside, so that helped put us in the
Christmas spirit.
As you can tell, the boys were being very silly because they were so excited!
I LOVE that they share the same joy as their momma. I LOVE
decorating for Christmas!!! So fun!

My muscle man, he just picks up our tree and
off we go. No waiting for the guys to help us!
Straight home to decorate it

The boys were so excited with every ornament we pulled out of the box.
It was like they were seeing them for the first time.
All done!!! Let the traditions begin!!!

Hope you have a wonderful Christmas season!

Elf on the Shelf

Christmas is here!!! I LOVE all the traditions that we do with the boys. It is just so fun!
I really can't help myself! I LOVE doing all the cute little things for them. I hope they will
always remember these memories and do them for their kids.

This year we continued the Elf on the Shelf.
If you haven't met, this is Jerry, our elf.
He comes back each year with a breakfast. We have snow covered donuts
and he usually brings them a few little gifts. Oh, and a note telling them how
he will be watching them until Christmas Eve.

Here is the famous Jerry with his note and a few kisses from Santa.
This year he brought an Advent Calendar and a Christmas movie.
He also brings paper and pencil so the boys can write their lists to Santa.

Sweet boys, it is going to be really hard on me when they don't believe anymore.
I think we will always have a breakfast to kick off the Christmas season.

Loving the snow covered donuts
First things first...make that list for Santa.

Can't wait for another magical Christmas season with my boys!!!

Me too, PopPop

Just thought this picture was cute of the boys with my dad. Anytime he has his ipad, they are right there wanting to help. It pretty amazing how much they know how to do on that thing. They know more than i do. Which isn't saying a whole lot. But Sam is trying to show Pop Pop what to do next. Kinda scary to think what they will be able to do in a few years!

Like Father Like Son

Thanksgiving 2011

It was our year to be with Wes' family for Thanksgiving this year.
Wes couldn't get off work, so Gigi and Sir came to our house.
We were very excited to have them at our house. It was my first year to host,
I was a little nervous about doing everything and having it all ready at the same time.
I tried to act like I had it all under control...

This is how Micah came home from school on his last day. So cute!
(he wasn't in the mood to have his picture taken)

And here is Sam when he got home.
His feathers list the things he is thankful for:
my house, my mom and dad, my pet, God
And his Indian name is: Runs-like-the-Cheetah

Gwynne and I tried to split up some of the food so I wasn't making everything.
She was in charge of the dressing. Here are the boys helping her make the cornbread.

Such good helpers. They loved that Gigi needed their help.

Making a few thanksgiving crafts and listing what we are thankful for.
We had ham and turkey because my father-in law LOVES ham!
I think he ate most of it before we even made it to the table.
Here is my turkey. There is a turkey under there. Really!
It was my first time cooking a turkey and I was really nervous.
I got a recipe from a friend and he even helped me cut it apart the day before.
It turned out to have a little too much herb taste, but good.
Everything turned out to be super yummy!!!

Thank you for coming to spend Thanksgiving with us, Gigi and Sir!!
We loved having you and we are very thankful for you!!!

So much to be thankful for, God is good!! I am so blessed!!

Pancakes and Pajamas

You know, I always have to stay busy....
my lastest project, Pancakes and Pajamas.
At our church they have a father/daughter tea in the spring, but nothing for moms/sons.
My friend Nicole and I decided we wanted to have something. But that also meant that we needed to be in charge of it. It ended up being a really fun time with my boys!!!

We all wore our pjs and ate pancakes for dinner
This was the table in the foyer when you first walk in where you get your name tags and
the boys got their activity tickets.

The tables were set up with crayons for the boys to color while they waited to eat and encouraging/funny quotes about mothers and sons.
The pillow and blanket check for the movie

The activities were:
Make a fruitloop necklace,

decorate a pillow case,

picture station,
(We took pictures of each mom and son and gave it to them at the end of the night)
And musical pillows/pillow fight.
(I think I was having too much fun to take pictures at this station)

We had pancakes and bacon for dinner with juice and coffee to drink.

For the movie, chocolate milk and snickerdoodle cookies.

We watched the Polar Express.

And our favor was a bell for all the boys and hot chocolate to have with their moms when they got home. It was a wonderful time with my boys!! I so blessed to have my sweet boys!
